Headteacher's Welcome

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to The Westwood Academy

A very warm welcome to The Westwood Academy, a school where children are happy, successful and most importantly thrive. We aim for all children to become truly resilient learners, ambitious in their pursuit of excellence and believe that ‘better never stops’.

At The Westwood Academy we know a great education has the power to transform futures, whatever the academic ability or personal circumstance of its students. We value the trust given to us to provide our students with the very best opportunities that empowers excellence and enriches lives and are rightfully proud of this. What is important to us, is that every student who joins our school will be prepared to take their place in the world as honourable adults with the confidence, purpose, enthusiasm, strength of character and academic achievements that enable them to progress to their next steps and live their best lives.

A young person’s happiness and well-being are recognised as foundations to their success. The level of pastoral care we provide at The Westwood Academy is second to none. As a fully inclusive school, we nurture every student in developing resilience and self-worth, supporting them through any setbacks and celebrating their successes.

At The Westwood Academy we recognise success can look different and appreciate the individuality of each child. What is common, is our shared ambition to cultivate a lifelong passion for learning and to help each student reach their full potential. We do this through fostering respect, promoting tolerance and the acceptance of others. What we see at The Westwood Academy are warm relationships and a place for all.

At the Westwood Academy we have a wide-ranging programme of co-curricular activities that sit very much alongside our traditional class-based provision. These clubs range from the Duke of Edinburgh Award through to sports, performing arts and science, maths and technology clubs. Through providing opportunities for everyone to participate and achieve we demonstrate our integrity, fairness and an ethical way of working.

Our staff are recognised as being highly dedicated and hold a shared passion of wanting only the very best for students so they can achieve their full potential. Students are always put at the centre of what we do and our school is renowned for its friendliness and the support it provides.

This friendliness extends across our Multi Academy Trust (KMAT), where collaboration between staff and students is a real strength. Our joint Sixth Form offer is exceptional, with both schools offering a large range of courses that students from across the Trust have the option to study. Added to this are the abundance of opportunities for students from Year 7 to Year 13 within careers and personal development to engage and flourish.

As part of the Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust, we achieve all of the above with a talented and hardworking staff, together with a dedicated and experienced Governing Board, who present robust and thoughtful challenge at every opportunity.

Students, staff and governors are very proud of our school and we look forward to welcoming you to our community.
