British Values – The Westwood Academy
The Government emphasises that all UK schools are required to ensure that fundamental ‘British Values’ are taught. The government set out its definition of British Values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy and identified the five British Values as:
Democracy
The rule of law
Individual liberty
Mutual Respect
Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
At The Westwood Academy, the five British Values are central to what we represent as a school. We recognise that educators are crucial in preparing young people for their adult lives as active, responsible and respectful citizens. As a school we seek to embed British Values not just as part of the PSHE curriculum but in every subject, throughout Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.
