The Westwood Academy shares a successful joint Sixth Form with neighbouring Tile Hill Wood Girls' School and Language College and Woodlands Academy called "The West Coventry Sixth Form" (WCSF). The WCSF students are taught and tutored in mixed sex groups across all three sites.

The WCSF has its own website which can be accessed by clicking this link

Congratulations to the class of 2016

Driver Awareness

In December 2016  our  second  PSHE  day saw Year 12 students  taking part in a driver awareness day in conjunction with colleagues from the local fire service and Kwik Fit tyres. Much fun was had experiencing what it was like to sit in the cab of an enormous truck and get a truck drivers view of  potential hazards on the road, wearing “beer goggles” whilst driving a go kart around a circuit filled with obstructions and learning how to measure the safe tread of a car tyre. Many of our students will learn to drive during their time in the sixth form so an extremely valuable day for all.

Congratulations...

To West Coventry Sixth Form’s Head Boy Charlie  McKinnell,   who had a  paper  archived by the University of Warwick; they were obviously very impressed with his research and writing talent!

The Skills Show 2016

Every year we take a group of sixth form students to the Skills Show at the NEC in November, and this years show did not fail to impress. It seems to get bigger and more interesting every year and our students and staffed were wowed by the  exhibitions,  have a go sessions and  the shear  volume of displays and Information put on for young people.  Well worth the visit as you can see by the smiling faces...

Fantastic Fundraising 2016

We ran a variety of fundraising events last term, several of them organised very successfully by the sixth form student leadership team. Students have raised money for both  national and  local  charities  and the brilliant totals  below are testament to their efforts;

Children In Need £443

Macmillan Coffee Morning and Cakes £240 * photo on twitter

Christmas Quiz - £300 local Christmas charities *photo on twitter

Cyrenians – 7 boxes of food collected and 6 bags of clothing *photo on twitter

A massive well done and thank you    to all involved.

Debating Competition 2016

Miss Dyckhoff supported a team of WCSF students to take part in the Debating Competition 2016.  The team took part in a training session at the council chambers before taking part in the actual competition.  Everyone enjoyed the experience and although our team didn’t win it was well worth entering.   Congratulations to Molly on receiving a Best Speaker Award and thank you to all of the students for representing WCSF!
